When a shopper opens a URL that no longer exists, Smart 404 offers a pre-filled search, similar products, categories and articles. The page keeps its 404 status, as Google expects, and you see which links lead nowhere.

What it does
Search on the 404 page
A search box pre-filled with words from the broken URL, so shoppers don't have to type again.

Links to the products, categories, articles and pages whose URL or name is closest to the broken one.
Popular categories
A block with your store's categories. Each block can be switched off.
404 log
Missing URLs by number of visits, with first and last seen dates and the referring domains.
One-click redirects
For every URL the add-on suggests the closest existing page. Create the redirect from the suggestion or by hand.
No cookies
No IP addresses or personal data are stored, so no cookie consent is needed.

FAQ
Doesn't it just redirect everything to the homepage?
No. Google treats that as an error (soft 404). The page stays a 404 and the shopper gets options to continue.
Do I need a developer?
No. It sets itself up after install and the settings are in the Shoptet admin.
Does it need cookie consent?
No. It uses no cookies and stores no IP addresses or personal data.
What happens after uninstalling?
The 404 page goes back to normal, the subscription ends and the data is deleted within 7 days.
